Sylvia Labat

My journey has taken me to different corners of the world, where I have lived and worked in Guadeloupe, Indonesia, Argentina, the Republic of Congo, and the United Arab Emirates. Along the way, I have had the opportunity to discover and explore, with genuine curiosity and fascination, different approaches to bodywork and manual therapy.

My practice is primarily influenced by craniosacral therapy, which I studied at two institutions: the College of Cranio-Sacral Therapy (CCST) in London and the Upledger Institute UK. It is also informed by fluidic and energetic approaches to osteopathy, explored through seminars at the Centro de Estudios Osteopáticos de Buenos Aires (CEOB).

These teachings, which acknowledge the interplay between physical and emotional experiences, continue to shape and enrich my work, alongside my understanding of anatomy, biomechanics, and posture, developed through years of practicing and teaching yoga.

My interest in somatic approaches is deeply rooted in my own personal journey.

For a long time, I believed I had successfully moved past my own traumatic experiences. I was in warrior mode, convinced that chapter of my life was firmly behind me.

And yet, discovering somatic approaches opened my eyes to a different perspective: even when we feel we have moved on from certain experiences, our bodies may continue to reflect aspects of what we have been through, through tension, sensations, or protective responses.

This discovery profoundly changed the way I understood the connections between our personal histories, our capacity to adapt, and the way we experience our bodies. It sparked a desire to explore these connections more deeply and gradually became the foundation of my practice.

Through my training and experience, I have developed an approach centered on attentive, subtle listening through touch, with particular attention to the body's patterns of adaptation, persistent tension, and nervous system responses, while considering both the physical and emotional dimensions of each individual.

SOMA was born from this journey, at the intersection of personal experience, meaningful encounters, and years of learning.

A gentle, individualized approach to bodywork, where touch, attentive listening, and respect for each person's unique history are at the heart of the practice.
